x 10 Natural Ways to Get Rid of Mosquitoes
Planting trees is actually one of the best ways to get rid of mosquitoes. Many people think that trees breed mosquitoes—nothing could be further from the truth. Lemon and Neem trees along with citronella grass, tulsi, marigold and mint are very effective at keeping away the blood sucking pests.
Mint oil and mint extract are also very effective as mosquito repellents. Put mint in a vaporizer or apply mint oil on your body or plant mint outside or indoors in a planter. Mint-flavored mouthwash mixed with water can be sprayed around the house to ward off mosquitoes and other bugs.
Citronella oil in a vaporizer can also help repel mosquitoes and other insects.
Lavender oil smells great and can be used as a room freshener or you can put it on your skin or your family’s skin for another natural repellent.
Use plenty of Garlic in your cooking to rid the room of mosquitoes. It’s very good for cholesterol and as a blood purifier and mosquitoes hate the smell. You can also crush it, boil it and use the water to spray rooms in your house.
Lemon oil and Eucalyptus are recommended by the CDC (Center for Disease Control) as indoor repellents. These natural oils are great alternatives to chemical lotions and sprays and have a terrific smell that insects hate. They also have antiseptic qualities that kill bacteria and viruses.
Camphor has a very long mosquito repellent activity compared to other natural repellents. Simply close all the windows in room, light the camphor and come back approximately 15 to 20 minutes later.
Tea Tree Oil has many different antiseptic, antifungal and cleaning uses in the home and is also a very effective mosquito repellent. You can rub some oil on your skin or use it in a vaporizer. Tea Tree Oil is very safe (but do not ingest) and it can literally kill mosquitoes and other insects.
Planting a Tulsi shrub near outdoor windows and entrance ways can be a good way to keep mosquitoes out of the house, according to Ayurveda medicine.
Mixing Neem oil with equal parts of coconut oil is also an effective way to repel mosquitoes. Rub this on all exposed areas of the body and you’ll be protected for 8 hours.
